TESTIMONIALS
"
I've wanted to go to the Basement for ages and I finally made it recently
to hear Harry's group really play.............they were fantastic.
Its not just another gig to them........they present their material
in Concert form up close and personal and the audience love it. To
a packed house, their stage presence was warm, informative and electrifying.
An important part of their agenda is nurturing the next generation
of musicians and the Basement is the perfect venue to showcase young
Jazz talent.....Production continuity abounds with live band, 'intermission'
film clips of the greats of Jazz and a special Guest Artist" Ian Franklin

FROM GEELONG JAZZ CLUB NEWS
"The
Harry Lynn Quartet play each Saturday night and feature a guest artist.
The night we went
there were three guest artist - Bruce Johnston, tenor sax and clarinet,
Andrew Hobler, guitarist and, as a surprise, Joanne Sullivan, flautist.
The atmosphere was very pleasant. White tablecloths, candles, comfortable
chairs. The place was packed - no room for dancing. Cross section
of ages, many young people. Reasonably priced drinks and food ordered
from the bar delivered to our tables. To keep us entertained before
the start and breaks they lowered a huge screen... and screened the
Dianna Krall concert in Paris. The Harry Lynn Quartet and guests played
mostly modern music. They played their own arrangements of Georgia
On My Mind and Summertime. The drummer, Warren Whittaker, brought us
to our feet with Caravan. Some other items - The
Touch Of Your Lips, One Note Samba, This Can't Be Love, What Now My
Love?. The Guitarist
and flautist presented two beautiful duets, All Blues and Always
and Forever. Another beautiful duet - Bewitched presented by Andrew, guitar
and Bruce, Clarinet."
THE
MACKAY ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE - MACKAY SHIRE CITY COUNCIL
"The
Harry Lynn Quartet with special guest Melissa Western ensured that the
Mackay Entertainment Centre's 2007 season started on a high note. The
group provided good old fashioned entertainment encompassing a balanced
program of Jazz and Blues favourites, swings and ballads. Skilled Musicianship,
light hearted banter and delightful vocals had the audience captivated
throughout the evening. So engrossed were they, you could hear a pin
drop during some of the ballads. One patron commented that "God Bless
the Child" was so moving it nearly brought her to tears. If the audience
had had their way, the band could have played on and on and they would
have stayed to listen.
The
Harry Lynn Quartet - Harry Lynn (piano), Peter McLaughlin (bass), Warren
Whittaker, (drums), Mal Wood (trumpet) with Melissa Western (vocals)
will definitely be invited and welcomed back to Mackay"
